Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information protocols.guide (the “Site”) collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Site you agree to this policy. Most of the Site can be browsed without an account; you only sign in if you choose to save protocols.
Information we collect
Browsing. You can read the Site without signing in. We do not require an account to view any page.
When you sign in with Google. If you choose to create an account, we use Google Sign-In and receive basic profile information from Google — your name, email address, and profile image. We request only this basic identity information; we do not request access to your Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, or any other Google service. We store an authentication token so we can keep you signed in.
Saved protocols. When you bookmark a protocol, we store the fact that your account saved that item, so we can show you your saved list.
Technical data. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically logs standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested, for security and operational purposes.
How we use your information
We use your information to operate the Site: to authenticate you, to keep you signed in, to store and display the protocols you save, and to secure, maintain, and improve the Site. We do not use your information to build advertising profiles.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing. We share information only with service providers that help us run the Site, and only as needed to provide it:
- Google — provides the sign-in service that verifies your identity.
- Hosting and database providers — host the Site and store your account and saved protocols on our behalf.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the Site.
Cookies
We use a small number of essential cookies to keep you signed in and to keep the Site secure. These are required for the account features to work; we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If you do not sign in, these cookies are not needed.
Third-party links and content
The Site links to third-party content, including podcast episodes on external platforms and, in some cases, affiliate links (as an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases). Those third-party sites have their own privacy practices, which we do not control. This policy covers only protocols.guide.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your account information and saved protocols for as long as your account exists. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time by contacting us, and we will delete it unless we are required to retain it by law.
Your choices
You can browse the Site without an account. If you have an account, you can remove saved protocols at any time, and you can request deletion of your account and data. You can also revoke protocols.guide’s access to your Google account from your Google Account security settings.
Children
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page, and your continued use of the Site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
