Exercise Before Learning

Organize bouts of learning, especially cognitive learning, to occur in the 1–2 hours after exercise, and possibly up to 2–3 or even 4 hours after, provided the exercise leaves you energized rather than exhausted. Do not take the exercise to exhaustion, because that leaves you depleted and increases parasympathetic activity rather than supporting alertness and focus.

1 / 1

I strongly, strongly recommend that anyone who's interested in lifelong learning, think about organizing your bouts of learning, especially cognitive learning, to come in the two to three hours, maybe even four hours, but certainly in the one to two hours after you do some sort of exercise that doesn't leave you exhausted, but leaves you with elevated levels of energy in your body.
