For bad habits or inner conflict, imagine the impulsive part in the left hand and the controlling part in the right hand, see both as well-meaning and exhausted, and wish both well.

“There's a little exercise I like to do with people where if they're struggling with a bad habit, I say, imagine the part of you that is always doing the bad thing, like smoking 20 packs a day or whatever. Or imagine them as a wild thing in your left hand. And then imagine the part of you that hates him and says, stop smoking in your right hand.”
